Many people feel scared when they hear that ICE is in their community, but remember: <strong>you have rights, and knowing them can protect you.<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If ICE agents come to your door, follow these steps to protect yourself and stay calm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Do Not Open the Door<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant <strong>signed by a judge.<\/strong> No matter what they say or try, if they do not have that warrant, you are not obligated to let them in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask Why They Are There<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request an interpreter if you need one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If they say they have a warrant, ask them to slide it under the door or show it through the window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Be careful:<\/strong> An ICE warrant (Forms I-200 or I-205) <strong>NO<\/strong> give them the right to enter without your permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What If They Insist on Entering?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If they do not have a warrant signed by a judge, tell them they cannot enter. If they try to force their way in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not resist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tell everyone in the house to remain silent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask them to leave any information at the door.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Remember:<\/strong> Anything you say can be used against you, so it is best to remain silent and wait for legal help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What to Do in Case of Arrest<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If ICE detains you, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Remain silent.<\/strong> You do not have to answer questions about your immigration status.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Do not sign anything<\/strong>.
